Bei diesem Prinzip werden einzelne Produktionsschritte von Funktionsmeistern gesteuert, d.h. es gibt für jeden Arbeitsbereich einen eigenen Meister. Z.B. für die Planung, Steuerung, Produktion und Qualität. Ein nennenswerter Vorteil, der hierdurch entstand war, dass die Qualität enorm hoch war, da einzelne Mitarbeiter immer den gleichen Arbeitsschritt ausführten und somit von Zeit zu Zeit u.a. die gleiche Qualität in kürzerer Zeit herstellten. Ein grosses Problem, das sich hierbei aber immer mehr abzeichnete war, dass bei Problemen nicht unbedingt schnell gehandelt werden konnte, da man über mehrere Ebenen "kommunizieren" musste. Durch Toyota wurde 1990 der Begriff des Lean Managements geprägt. Hierbei lag der Fokus nicht mehr auf einzelnen Funktionen, sondern auf dem gesamten Prozess. Es wurde festgestellt, dass die beste Prozesseffizienz durch Integration von Funktionen, am besten in einer Person, erreicht wird. So liegt jetzt z.B. die Qualitätssicherung nicht mehr bei einem Funktionsmeister der Qualitätssicherung am Ende eines Prozesses, sondern wird ständig von jedem Mitarbeiter selbst durchgeführt (man spricht hierbei von der so genannten Selbstkontrolle). Dieser Wandel von der Funktionsorientierung zur Prozessorientierung bewirkte revolutionäre Änderungen, welche neuen Möglichkeiten, Tools, etc. im Bereich der Prozessorientierung eröffneten. Zuerst werden zum besseren Verständnis grundlegende Fragen erläutert, wie z.B. was einen Geschäftsprozess charakterisiert, was Geschäftsprozessmanagement bedeutet und warum Prozessorientierung für manche Unternehmen besser ist als Funktionsorientierung, erläutert. Nach einer kurzen Aufführung und Erläuterung allgemeiner Standards, die zur Beschreibung von Geschäftsprozessen momentan verwendet werden, schildert das weitere Kapitel die Hauptmerkmale, Integration und Ziele von BPML. BPML stellt eine Sprache dar, die von der BPMI Organisation neu, zur Modellierung von Geschäftsprozessen, entwickelt wurde. Ab-schliessend wird ein Ausblick auf die Möglichkeiten von BPML und die damit vorhandene Evo-lution in der Informatik gegeben.

The issues and problems that are associated with implementing and gaining support for BPM within organisations are well known. BPM maturity, however, is something that organisations aspire to ¿ but know little about. Research to date indicates that many organisations do not progress past very rudimentary levels of BPM maturity. This is likely due to BPM being seen as a complex and complicated issue. This research looks at what successful organisations see as being key to BPM and what organisations that are unsuccessful in BPM implementation consider being the issues that contributed to their failure. BPM is defined as a holistic management practice that includes the alignment of processes with the corporate strategy and especially with strategic and operational goals. Whilst the use of both methodologies and information technology, as supporting and enabling functions, is important for BPM, organisational and cultural change is identified as one of the critical success factors for BPM implementations. This research focuses on defining BPM maturity in a meaningful and measurable way. It addresses the complexity of BPM maturity be firstly defining what BPM maturity means and then developing a model that can be used to measure current levels of maturity. In addition, BPM-related benefits are identified, such as increased effectiveness, efficiency, or quality. Increased BPM maturity is characterised as being correlated with an increased probability of achieving these benefits. An increased maturity can lead to a decreased gap between objectives and a current situation. Objectives are also more likely to be met due to less varying results and, therefore, greater ability to predict results. The organisation-wide deeper understanding of how the business is conducted results in work being more consistent and repeatable and as a result more effectively and efficiently. Other benefits of the model are the ability of the organisation to determine strengths and weaknesses in current applications. In doing this, the organisations see benefits in being able to expand knowledge sharing within the organisation by learning from the successes within its own self.

Within projects the term risk is defined as ¿[¿] the cumulative effect of the chances of uncertain occurrences adversely affecting project objectives¿ (Wideman 1992, p. I-4). The thorough examination of possibilities for avoidance, elimination or at least for a significant reduction of these risks should lead to a better performance of the ultimate project. The question why some projects succeed while others fail is important to every business. To strengthen the possible future project success, project risk management has to be effectively applied to every project process. Identifying project risks and appropriately cope with them through the development of adequate strategies is the aim of the project risk management process. Having this in mind, the intention of this term paper is to analyze the process of project risk management. After a short introduction, by thorough study of literature in the second chapter the main steps of different approaches of the risk management process in projects will be indicated and compared. After that the most common tools to be used within this process will be indicated before, finally, possibilities for the extension of the project risk management process towards a broader management process will be discussed. In the last chapter a conclusion will be drawn and an answer given to the questions on which are the critical steps towards an effective risk management process and which specific factors have to be focused to overcome the threats concerning management of projects. The work is done on a more general basis to understand the character of the risk management process, giving possibility to an application to many different kinds of projects.

An effective corporate rescue procedure is a cornerstone of a prospering economy. Economical value is closely connected to the risk of economic loss. Therefore, economic growth will only be sustainable if investments are supported by safeguards donated by effective insolvency regimes not only focussing on a fast liquidation but also on the reorganisation or rescue of a company. Only the careful balance of creditors¿ rights and the entrepreneurial spirit of the debtors ensure attractiveness for investments.(3) B Comparative approach This essay is focussed on the administrator as point of comparison because his role in the process significantly reflects the principles of the underlying corporate rescue regime. In both countries Australia and Germany the administrator is a relatively influential organ. The essay will show that the role of the German administrator is much more influenced by the court than in Australia. Over the last decade more and more companies started to optimize their business processes in a way to meet its business goals. For this purpose a lot of different approaches to business process modelling languages (BPMLs) have been developed. Although BPMLs are well established in industry and science, a comprehensive evaluation or a framework for is still missing. Thus, it is the goal of this work to provide an evaluation framework for the comparison of BPMLs and to apply this framework in the evaluation of six well-known BPMLs. According to the evaluation we were able to identify three main problems in current BPMLs. The first problem is that the definition of the dependency between business processes and their supporting software systems is inadequately supported. The second problem concerns the variability of similar, but well-distinguished software products. Today, variability modelling is limited to the structural definition of similar software products. The third problem is that current BPMLs do not provide the modelling of process goals and their measures. During this work we will solve these three problems by using well-defined business process modelling technics.

It has achieved "the enhanced status [¿] as the dominant world language [which] has led to an increased demand for the training of competent specialists able to mediate" (Alcaraz Varo/Hughes, 2002: 1). This goes along with a "phenomenal increase in the teaching of [¿] 'English for special (or specific) purposes' " (ibid.: 2). What is the reason for this development? This piece of work might give an answer; it dedicates itself to domain specific English language: language and law. It concentrates on the characteristics of the structure of legal English in particular. An overview of the central structural features is given, without claiming completeness. Legal professionals aim at a precise explanation of facts which should leave no doubts. This aim forces them to use a certain kind of language pattern, such as including a high amount of definitions in legal texts, along with numerous complex and ancient phrases deriving from Law French and plentiful enumerations which can all together form a single sentence covering several lines. Dependent on which party they represent, lawyers make frequent use of features that reduce the agent in his identity while emphasizing the action ¿ a matter of strategy which has the impeding of comprehension as a consequence. Therefore, the field of law becomes completely unapproachable for laymen, who are scarcely able to follow legal discourse. Even well-educated native speakers often find it hard to understand the language used in court. However, the access to one¿s rights is important. To begin with, the reader will be provided with an overall definition of special languages and an explanation why to regard them as a variety of a language; afterwards this will be illustrated at the example of the language of the law. Subsequently, the foundations for the structural analysis of legal English will have been laid. Language has to serve as the vehicle for transporting what the law is about. But legal language does not seem to be a good packaging of legal contents. That is why experts are asked to diminish the barrier and mediate between the language of the law and common speech. Does legalese function as an obstacle rather than a vehicle then? This question will have to be considered in this piece of work. In order to offer a satisfactory response to this key issue, SLA researchers have posited the existence of a set of individual factors of a very different nature, such as aptitude, motivation, attitude, personality, and intelligence, among others, that might explain such variation. However, one of the most obvious potential explanations for the lack of success of L2 learners compared to L1 learners is that the acquisition of a foreign language begins at a later age than that of the mother tongue does. Thus, it has been prevalently assumed that age itself is a predictor of second language proficiency. This paper focuses on research which has been carried out on maturational constraints for SLA and hereby tries to find answers to various questions concerning age as a factor in SLA.

So werden im Folgenden Verfahrensweisen, Methoden und Instrumente erläutert, die während der Einführung des Problem Managements eine wesentliche Rolle gespielt haben, welche Rahmenbedingungen dabei zu beachten waren und welche Probleme aufgetreten sind oder auftreten können. Im zweiten Kapitel ¿Organisatorisches Umfeld¿ wird eine kurze Einführung in das organisatorische Umfeld gegeben, in dem diese Diplomarbeit geschrieben worden ist. Darüber hinaus folgt ein erster Einblick in die Arbeitsgebiete und die Struktur dieser Business Unit. Das dritte Kapitel ¿IT Service Management¿ vermittelt einen Einblick in den Bereich des IT Service Managements, indem die Ziele von IT Service Management erläutert werden und die Motivation für IT Abteilungen und IT-Unternehmen vorgestellt wird, bisherige Strukturen zu überdenken und sich verstärkt dienstleistungsorientiert zu organisieren. Darüber hinaus werden einige Modelle vorgestellt, die sich mit dem Management von IT-Dienstleistungen und dem Projektmanagement von IT Projekten beschäftigen. Nachdem die Bedeutung des Managements von IT Services herausgearbeitet worden ist, wird im vierten Kapitel ¿ITIL¿ ein Ansatz zum IT Service Management weitergehend im Detail beschrieben. Es beschreibt die Information Technology Infrastructure Library, den am weitest akzeptiertesten und verbreiteten Standard, der IT Dienstleistern durch Best-practices dabei helfen soll, ihre Servicequalität sowie deren effiziente Erbringung zu verbessern. Kapitel fünf, ¿Problem Management¿, beschäftigt sich mit der Einführung des ITIL-Prozesses Problem Management in einer Business Unit der Bayer Business Services GmbH. In diesem Kapitel werden die Inhalte des Prozesses näher beschrieben und darauf aufbauend unternehmensspezifische Anpassungen sowie Massnahmen zur Einführung des Prozesses vorgestellt. In diesem Rahmen werden ebenfalls Kosten und Risiken der Einführung sowie die Möglichkeit des Outsourcings diskutiert. Im sechsten Kapitel ¿Zusammenfassung und Ausblick¿ werden wesentliche Aspekte der Arbeit zusammengefasst sowie ein Ausblick auf den weiteren Projektverlauf und die Zukunft des ITIL-Frameworks gegeben wird.

Da eine vollständige Absicherung jeglicher Risiken jedoch betriebswirtschaftlich nicht sinnvoll wäre, sichert man sich in den Unternehmen nur gegen Risiken ab, die eine gewisse Mindestwahrscheinlichkeit aufweisen. Dass aber auch weniger wahrscheinliche Gefahren mit grossem Schadenspotential tatsächlich auftreten, hat der 11. September 2001 deutlich in Erinnerung gerufen. Solche fundamentalen Risiken unterbrechen nicht nur den Geschäftsbetrieb, sondern können auch Auswirkungen auf ganze Branchen oder gar Volkswirtschaften haben. Zudem ist die reine Finanzierung bzw. der Transfer dieser Risiken nahezu unmöglich. Auch die latente Gefahr einer global auftretenden Infektionskrankheit, wie sie derzeit z.B. wieder durch das H5N1-Virus (Vogelgrippe) befürchtet wird, stellt ein solches Risiko dar. Business Continuity Management (BCM) ist ein Mitte der 1980er Jahre entstandenes Konzept, das zunächst dem Risiko einer Unterbrechung der Informationstechnologie entgegengesetzt wurde. Neuere Ansätze sollen ganze Unternehmen gegen fundamentale Risiken resistenter machen und deren Wirkung durch zeitnahe organisatorische Massnahmen und einen dem Risiko angemessenen geeigneten Zeitplan für Eingriffe unterschiedlicher Art begrenzen. Das vorliegende Buch fasst die Ansätze und Empfehlungen des Business Continuity Institute (England), des British Standard Institute (England), des Disaster Recovery Institute International (USA), der ASIS International (USA), der National Fire Protection Agency (USA), des Baseler Ausschusses für Bankenaufsicht (Schweiz), der Monetary Authority of Singapore, der Hong Kong Monetary Authority, der Bank of Japan sowie des U.S. Homeland Security Council des Weissen Hauses in ihren wesentlichen Punkten zusammen und prüft sie auf ihre Wirksamkeit im Falle einer Pandemie. Dabei wurden geeignete Massnahmen übernommen, entsprechend angepasst und durch zusätzliche Initiativen zu ergänzt. Auf diese Weise konnte ein BCM-Konzept erstellt werden, das branchenübergreifend gleichermassen Verwendung finden und auch die Besonderheiten einer globalen Krisensituation - in Form einer sich ausbreitenden Infektionskrankheit - wirkungsvoll adressieren kann. Furthermore, in an intercultural context, a manager not only needs to know how to handle conflicts in general, but also how his negotiation partners usually deal with them. This is important because the right way to solve a conflict i. e. in North America is not necessarily the right way in Indonesia. When coping with conflicts in international business negotiations, international managers must be aware of the fact that appropriate ways of solving conflicts in Western cultures like North America can very often be completely unacceptable in Asian cultures like Indonesia. The aim of this paper is to analyse typical conflict management strategies in North America and Indonesia, thereby highlighting major differences in appropriate conflict management between them.

This trend did not cause much of a problem when the change over time was moderate. As Alvin Toffler (1970) says we are in a turning point of human history. In the changing perspective in the world with speed of change, speed of inventions and speed of knowledge and speed of threat on living education got to change to prepare the next generation to face these new challenges. The climatic change, depletion of resources, growing energy crisis, threat of terrorism, rapid of growth of population and the changing structure of population are new challenges the young generation would face. The world in year 2050 would not be a different place to live. Unless and otherwise education policy is framed to address the 'gloom and doom' side of world by 2050, the next generation would face a serious threat of existence. The positive futurists show that technology and science will not allow the world to laps its primitive past once again. It is clear that science and technology is the only answer to human survival. Therefore, it is important that education policy makers taking a fresh look at the policy challenges for the future. This paper makes an analysis based on the published and documented evidence what policy framework would be required in the developing countries in view of the emerging challenges to ensure a survival of the generations to come.
