Neue und brillante Arbeiten Mit seinen neuen Ölbildern und Skulpturen vollzieht Siegfried Anzinger einen radikalen Bruch. Er bricht insbesondere mit dem bei ihm so typischen Prozess des pastosen Farbauftrags in den Bildern, seiner besonderen bildnerischen Art der figürlichen Erscheinung, einer mitunter oberitalienisch anmutenden Farbpalette, kurz dem malerisch gedacht Gemalten. Und das wirkt wie ein plötzlich hell aufscheinendes Licht. Denn jetzt trägt Siegfried Anzinger die Hintergrundtöne schnell und verdünnt auf, und aus dem Detail, etwa einer Schlaufenbewegung in einem Höhenzug, wird ein klar in verschiedene Bildebenen gestaffeltes Epos aufgebaut. Demgegenüber sind bisher die Figuren und Szenen in einem wie verschlossen wirkenden Raum, also ungefähr wie in einem Kammerspiel, zur Geltung gekommen. Siegfried Anzinger hat mit seiner neuen Malerei den Vorhang weit aufgezogen und ihr die grosse Bühne bereitet. Dabei ist es nicht nur fantastisch, wie die Abbilder aus allerlei Kulturtechniken (Rock, Pop, Comic, Renaissance und Western) miteinander um die Eroberung des Goldzuges wetteifern, sondern auch, wie mit gezielter Dramatik ein malerisches Panorama aufgeschlagen wird, in dem bereits die Epen von David, Delacroix oder Gerricault zu träumen Anlass gegeben hatten. New and brilliant works Siegfried Anzinger has undertaken a radical departure with his new oil paintings and sculptures. In particular, he has broken with his trademark impasto application of paint, his particular pictorial way of figurative representation, his occasionally resonantly Italianate colour pallete, in short: with painting as painterly thinking. The effect is quite literally like a brilliant light suddenly shining brightly. Now, for example, Siegfried Anzinger applies the background tones quickly and in diluted form, and out of the detail of, say, an upward looping motion, he builds up something epic in a set of clearly stacked layers. Thus the figures and scenes have, up to now, received our attention in a seemingly enclosed space, not unlike a chamber drama. Siegfried Anzinger has now torn open the curtains with his new style of painting and has set up a new stage for them. In so doing it is not only fantastic the way in which the images from all manner of cultural techniques (rock, pop, comic, Renaissance, and westerns) compete with one another to appropriate the sumptuous plunder, but rather the way – as though with a targeted dramaturgy – a painterly panorama is opened up in which hitherto the epic works by David, Delacroix or Gerricault have invited us to dream.
