They had a diversified revenue income stream, operating in defence, radar and second in the world in landline telecom, after the American giant AT&T.; Also, a little research project that had started in a lab outside Gothenburg had started to take off. This was wireless telecom and had been identified to have a huge market potential by top management. This new business demanded heavy investments in cutting edge technology but revenue came in from all parts of the firm and Ericsson had the investor¿s confidence, backed by the two strongest business spheres in Sweden. At the same time there was a similar company in the neighbour country of Finland. Nokia, an old engineering company, offered similar products but had lived in the shadow of Ericsson. Wireless telecom took of and together with internet soon became the growth industry of the nighties. Every trader on Wall Street all by a sudden knew about these two companies from the remote north of Europe. In a rapidly growing market there was money to be made for all players in this field but when the stock market rally of the nineties was over, its little brother from Finland outperformed Ericsson. This paper will look at the strategic paths these companies took and why the smaller player managed to outperform the giant. Focal firm Lars Eric Ericsson founded Ericsson 1876. Ericsson has always been a technological driven company, usually with engineers as top management. Ericsson is a diversified company operating in defence, radar, telephone and wireless telephone. Although a diversified engineering company, Ericsson¿s tremendous growth during the nineties comes from their expertise wireless telephoning. This includes mobile systems, components and mobile phones. The distinctive competence comes from their expertise in mobile systems. They were first with NMT (G1) and later with the GMS (G2) system currently in use. Ericsson is a company full of engineers and the engineering culture is deeply rooted within the company. It has always been in the forefront in mobile systems and R&D; is a cornerstone in this company. However, it is not enough to be good at engineering.

On one hand he was celebrated as the "Poet of the American Revolution" (Eberwein 191) or the "Father of American Poetry" (Stauffer 52), a journalist of influence, a patriot and skilful writer, on the other hand he was forgotten for a long time. How did Philip Freneau see himself? What were his targets and how did he try to reach them? This paper examines Freneau's look on his role as an author on his poetry and plans. What kind of influences affected or promoted his career? Regarding his own poems "To an Author", "The City Poet" and "To a New England Poet" his description of an author's life - and therefore his life - will become apparent. Furthermore, a closer look on his contemporaries, the Connecticut Wits, especially Dwight, Barlow and Bryant will display how independent and original Freneau's writing was, and what kind of relationships he had towards these American authors. At the same time his relationship towards British poets is interesting: He thought he rejected most of their writing; but was he really not influenced by them at all? Could it be that he sometimes even copied parts of their work? After having a short look on other intertextual influences like Greek mythology, verses from the Bible and Classic forms, this paper will look back on his life in a retrospective way and analyse his attitude towards himself. Did Freneau manage to reach his goals or did he lose sight of them?

Insbesondere setzen wir uns mit ihren Vor- und Nachteilen auseinander. Dies geschieht am Beispiel des Assessment Centers, dem wohl objektivsten und differenziertesten Auswahlverfahren. Auf andere Formen der mehrstufigen Personalauswahlverfahren, wie zum Beispiel multimodale Interviews oder sogenannte Testbatterien, die sich aus psychologischen Tests, Leistungstests, und Tests, die die soziale Kompetenz prüfen, zusammensetzen, wird hier nicht näher eingegangen. Auch wird den Assessment Centern in der von uns verwendeten Literatur das höchste Gewicht beigemessen, da sie jegliche Formen der Personalauswahlverfahren unter ihrem Dach zusammenbringen können. Des weiteren geben wir einen Überblick über die Entstehungsgeschichte des Assessment Centers sowie dessen Ablauf und die gängigsten Anwendungsverfahren, sowie über Standards, die bei der Durchführung zu beachten sind. Im Resümee gewichten und bewerten wir die Vor- und Nachteile des Assessment Centers und gehen daraus resultierend auf die Sinnhaftigkeit ihres Einsatzes ein.

Every company sells products or services to customers so from a quality assurance point of view it is crucial to develop products in reference to market needs or customer needs respectively. This is the focus for the assignment. A general guideline for an efficient product development process should be created with the overall objective ¿ customer centric product development combined with an improved internal workflow. Anderson et al (2006, p. 1) states that customer value proposition is one of the most widely used terms in business in recent years. So it is important that a company is able to help customers understand the superior value of the products or service offered. Under pressure to keep costs down, customers may only look at the price and so it is important to think about the customer value proposition but also the comparison to the competitors of a specific market environment. This should flow into this assignment as well. Another problem of product development is that in many companies it is rather influenced by opinions of different sales people then by facts and figures. According Annacchino (2007, p. 101) a lot of companies tend to make a mistake at the product definition step, so that the customer is not really involved in the product development process. In reference to the definition of customer-defined needs there are different ways: ¿ A company can use direct customer surveys to solicit feedback and to obtain information in a direct manner. ¿ Another way is a focused group discussion which allows multiple-person input and prompted discussion to generate ideas. ¿ A third possibility is a suggestion system and communication platform for customers and stakeholders.
