Diese seit vielen Jahren in mehrjährigen Abständen und traditionell in Bad Nauheim stattfindende Fachtagung gibt einen Überblick über die im vergangenen Zeitraum erreichten Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Leistungselektronik und einen Ausblick auf kommende Innovationen. Das Interesse gilt einerseits den Bauelementen der Leistungselektronik. Die Leistungshalbleiter-Bauelemente auf Basis von Silizium und Siliziumkarbid-Schottky-Dioden konnten in den vergangenen Jahren weiter optimiert werden. Auch Siliziumkarbid-Transistoren finden zunehmend Einzug in die kommerzielle Nutzung. Leistungshalbleiter auf der Basis von Galliumnitrid sind zunehmend verfügbar und entwickeln sich weiter. Die zunehmend schneller schaltenden Halbleiter stellen hohe Anforderungen an die Aufbau- und Verbindungstechnik, aber auch an die passiven Bauelemente wie Kondensatoren und Induktivitäten. Aspekten wie Zuverlässigkeit, elektrisches und thermisches Design, Integrationsgrad und Kosten kommt grosse Bedeutung zu. Die Vorträge am ersten Tag befassen sich entsprechend mit Bauelement-bezogenen Themen. Am zweiten Tag stehen die Anwendungen der Leistungselektronik im Vordergrund. Durch den Ausbau erneuerbarer Energiesysteme wie Wind- oder PV-Systeme in den Energienetzen und die zunehmende Elektrifizierung der Mobilität sind neue Anwendungen für die Leistungselektronik entstanden, die sich stetig weiterentwickeln. Die Umgestaltung der Energieversorgung aber auch der Mobilität erfordert zunehmend Stromrichtertechnik in den höheren Netzspannungsebenen und treibt Entwicklungen in der Mittelspannungsebene und bei der Hochspannungs-Gleichstrom-Übertragung voran. Die zunehmende Anzahl an Batterie-getriebenen Fahrzeugen erhöht den Bedarf an elektrischer Energie und stellt andererseits hohe Anforderungen an die On-Board-Leistungselektronik. Ressourcen-sparende hohe Effizienz und lange Lebensdauern stehen Kostenaspekten gegenüber und sind damit zentrale Themen im Bereich der Anwendungen. Alle Leistungselektronik-Anwendungen profitieren von den Weiterentwicklungen der aktiven und passiven Bauelemente und treiben diese andererseits auch wieder voran. Der Fokus auf eingeladene Übersichtsvorträge verleiht dieser deutschsprachigen Tagung einen besonderen Charakter; Teilnehmer schätzen sie wegen ihrer hohen Qualität und ihrem hohen und breiten Informationsgehalt.

Beschleunigung ist das Gebot der Stunde! Das ist wahrlich keine neue Erkenntnis - "Wandel und Geschwindigkeit" war schon das Kernfazit unseres letzten ETG Kongresses 2021. Seitdem gibt es aber eine neue Bundesregierung, die die Ziele für die Energiewende deutlich gestrafft hat: Treibhausgasneutralität im Stromsektor bis 2035 (statt 2050), 80 % erneuerbare Energien im Jahr 2030. Das ist quasi schon "morgen". Und dann gibt es das epochale Ereignis eines russischen Angriffskrieges mitten in Europa, mit dem unsäglichen Leid für die Menschen in der Ukraine. Neben vielen anderen, noch unüberschaubaren Folgen für unsere globale Gemeinschaft, wird vielen Ländern, allen voran Deutschland, schlagartig ihre Abhängigkeit von russischen Energieträgern bewusst - was jetzt möglichst umgehend zu ändern ist. Die Energiewende steht damit im politischen und gesellschaftlichen Fokus wie nie zuvor.Da ist es gut, dass die grundlegenden Bausteine der Energiewende mittlerweile hinreichend bekannt und etabliert sind - und sich auch nur geringfügig ändern, im Kontext des Gesamtbildes. Es braucht einen massiven Zubau an erneuerbarer Stromerzeugung, Netzausbau, Flexibilität und Speicher allerorten und Digitalisierung. Dass dies nicht nur Schlagworte sind, sondern wirklich einen umfassenden und tiefgreifenden Wandel unserer Energiesysteme bedeuten, ist in Fachkreisen ebenso bekannt und etabliert. Was sich gerade durch die aktuellen Begebenheiten noch mal deutlich ändert, ist die Geschwindigkeit. Nicht, dass es den Akteuren beim bisher angedachten Tempo langweilig geworden wäre - es ist aber einfach offensichtlich geworden, dass wir als Gesellschaft keine, wirklich gar keine Zeit zu verlieren haben und die Beschleunigung des Wandels die zentrale Aufgabe ist, die jetzt zu lösen ist. Mit neuen technischen Lösungen und Konzepten, aber vor allem auch mit Änderungen an Prozessen und in der Digitalisierung, am Ordnungsrahmen, in der personellen Ausstattung, in einfach allen Bereichen des Energiesektors und den verbundenen Sektoren.
