A test problem would have to be selected with the following features : 1. it should be suited for all known methods (finite differences, finite elements, spectral ... ) thus the geometry should be simple. 2. it should be simple so that scientists with small computer facilities can test it and the gradients in the flow should be reasonable in size so that algo rithms don't blow up with a limited number of points and iterations. In practice one would have to select a stationary flow at moderate Reynolds number. 3. it should be a real flow to allow experimental ~asurements. The simplest problem used previously was the cavity flow problem ; however the singularity of the data at the boundary (point A and B on figure 1} makes it difficult for the Finite Element and Spectral methods ; furthermore it is not such an easy experiment to set up. The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has specified an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in 3GPP Release 5 to support converged multimedia applications across both wireless and wireline devices. IMS provides full packet call control capabilities by using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). SIP has been chosen by 3GPP as the signaling protocol to handle user registrations and multimedia session management in the IMS. Using IP protocols defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), IMS will merge cellular networks and the internet, offering new service capabilities for rapid service creation and deployment of integrated IP multimedia applications. This diploma thesis provides an insight into the IP Multimedia Core Network, specifically focusing on its key element, the Call Session Control Function (CSCF). The CSCF serves as control point to manage all IMS sessions in the network, whether they are voice, video, data, messaging, gaming, or any other service. Moreover, this paper discusses the requirements identified by 3GPP to support SIP in cellular networks, and the extensions to the SIP protocol suite in order to fulfill them. The practical part of the thesis evaluates the Open Source IMS Core platform of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS with respect to the CSCF which is based on the SIP Express Router (SER). The analysis describes the new modules and advanced functions of SER, required to cope with the extended version of SIP and to act as a CSCF for IMS purposes.

Diversification of products and operations in various markets entail heightened levels of uncertainty and risk in the wake of a pronounced economic downturn. Technical advances and strategic reconsiderations in the Business-to-Business (B2B) market have led companies to meet such challenges with new forms of collaboration. Especially considering its drawbacks, the success of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) has confirmed the demand for interfirm connectivity. Combined, current forms of collaboration are limited both in scale and scope, as few companies have had the vision and drive to prepare themselves for what is ahead of proprietary one-to-one exchanges. Since 1999, industrial organizations have separately attempted to enable common interfirm trade with the help of online trading platforms and e-marketplaces. In most industries, the use of these platforms has been reduced to low numbers of intra-industry transactions between first-movers and strategic visionaries. Despite their damped optimism, companies¿ readiness has progressed along with the market potential. Tackling the initial weaknesses, an integrative B2B trading network that is based on true interoperability and openness is now well-positioned to exploit this increased potential. Still, collaboration in its current forms may not be sufficient: considering the present dominance of customer demands, an increasing number of individual solutions must be mass-tailored to order. At first sight, this leaves companies with no choice but to at least neglect, if not give up the goals of synergies, economies of scale as well as critical mass. In reply to this increasingly dynamic and competitive market environment, companies may outsource supporting functions and focus on their core competences. So far however, Western firms have lacked access to the right partners for the required resources, allowing only the outsourcing of selected operations or collaboration on projects of limited. Similar to e-marketplaces, outsourcing has so far not only been restricted in both its strategic and operational scope, but also repeatedly been employed ineffectively or inappropriately. To fully account for the challenges of today¿s companies and to leverage their dormant potential, e-marketplaces and outsourcing are to be combined.

The issues and problems that are associated with implementing and gaining support for BPM within organisations are well known. BPM maturity, however, is something that organisations aspire to ¿ but know little about. Research to date indicates that many organisations do not progress past very rudimentary levels of BPM maturity. This is likely due to BPM being seen as a complex and complicated issue. This research looks at what successful organisations see as being key to BPM and what organisations that are unsuccessful in BPM implementation consider being the issues that contributed to their failure. BPM is defined as a holistic management practice that includes the alignment of processes with the corporate strategy and especially with strategic and operational goals. Whilst the use of both methodologies and information technology, as supporting and enabling functions, is important for BPM, organisational and cultural change is identified as one of the critical success factors for BPM implementations. This research focuses on defining BPM maturity in a meaningful and measurable way. It addresses the complexity of BPM maturity be firstly defining what BPM maturity means and then developing a model that can be used to measure current levels of maturity. In addition, BPM-related benefits are identified, such as increased effectiveness, efficiency, or quality. Increased BPM maturity is characterised as being correlated with an increased probability of achieving these benefits. An increased maturity can lead to a decreased gap between objectives and a current situation. Objectives are also more likely to be met due to less varying results and, therefore, greater ability to predict results. The organisation-wide deeper understanding of how the business is conducted results in work being more consistent and repeatable and as a result more effectively and efficiently. Other benefits of the model are the ability of the organisation to determine strengths and weaknesses in current applications. In doing this, the organisations see benefits in being able to expand knowledge sharing within the organisation by learning from the successes within its own self.
