Die Kompositionen Antonín Dvoráks gehören zu den populärsten und am häufigsten gespielten Werken des romantischen Repertoires. Der sechsteilige Konzert Zyklus, aufgenommen 1993 in der Alten Oper Frankfurt, vereint die schönsten Werke des tschechischen Komponisten. In VOLUME VI wird das weltberühmte Requiem interpretiert. Dvorák schrieb sein Requiem für den Konzertsaal, nicht für den Gottesdienst. Er konzipierte es nicht von der Oper her wie Verdi, sondern als symphonische Dichtung, als Tongemälde mit allem, was dazu gehört: dramatischen Zuspitzungen, lyrischem Verweilen, Rückblenden in die Geschichte, Seitenblicken in andere Kunstformen - und mit einer Idée fixe, die wie ein Wegbegleiter durch das ganze Stück führt. In Dantes "Göttlicher Komödie" leitet Vergil durch die Kreise der Hölle, in Dvoráks göttlicher Tragödie löst und bannt ein Motiv von Bach die Klänge aus der Unterwelt. Im dritten Teil unserer Reihe erscheint nun Dvoraks Achte Sinfonie und sein mitreissendes Klavierkonzert, gespielt von Igor Ardasev. Einmal mehr wird beim Zuhören und Zusehen bewusst, dass technische Perfektion, ausdrucksstarkes Spiel und grösstes Einfühlungsvermögen notwendig sind, um Dvorak so klingen zu lassen, wie er in den Noten steht. In Volume V wird das weltberühmte 'Stabat Mater' interpretiert. Die englische Erstaufführung in der Londoner Royal Albert Hall 1883 hatte einen solchen sensationellen Erfolg, dass Dvorak gebeten wurde, sein 'Stabat Mater' im Folgejahr selbst zu dirigieren. Die letzte Hürde zur Weltkarriere war genommen.
