Die Modizierung der Partikeloberäche ermöglicht ferner die Herstellung zielgerichteter Nanopartikel sowie die Markierung von Zellen. Auch mit einer zweiten bioinspirierten Syntheseroute konnten kolloidal stabile Partikel mit vielversprechender MPS-Performance generiert werden, welche eine hervorragende Eignung als MPI-Tracer erwarten lassen und somit die Weiterentwicklung der MPI-Technologie massgeblich vorantreiben könnten.

Das vorliegende Werk stellt drei neuartige Instrumentierungen für MPI-Systeme vor, die auf einer feldfreien Linie (FFL) basieren. Anhand der Systeme wird gezeigt, dass es mit Hilfe der FFL-Technologie möglich ist, Echtzeitfähigkeit, geringe Systemkomplexität und hohe räumliche Auflösung zu realisieren. Mittels einer elektronisch rotierenden FFL wird zunächst gezeigt, dass eine Partikelverteilung in Echtzeit (50 Bilder pro Sekunde) untersucht werden kann. Anschliessend wird ein Konzept vorgestellt, das die Bildgebung mit Hilfe einer mechanisch rotierenden FFL realisiert. Schlüsseleigenschaft dieses Systems sind eine äusserst geringe Komplexität und geringe infrastrukturelle Anforderungen. Schliesslich wird eine neuartige Magnetanordnung eingeführt. Dieses Konzept vereint hohe räumliche Auflösung, geringe Komplexität und Echtzeitbildgebung.

Bei der Simulation biomedizinscher Prozesse konzentriert sich das Institut für Medizintechnik auf multiphysikalische Vorgänge, die durch Differentialgleichungen beschrieben werden können, dazu gehören Wachstumsprozesse maligner Tumore ebenso wie Strömungsmodelle des Pharynx zur Therapie des Schlafapnoe-Syndroms. Das bessere Verständnis dieser Vorgänge soll zu gezielten, patientenindividualisierten Therapieansätzen führen. Das Institut für Medizintechnik wird die technischen Grundlagen der Bildgebung (Instrumentierung, Rekonstruktionsverfahren, Tracerentwicklung) in enger Kooperation mit Kliniken und der Industrie weiterentwickeln. Gezielt wird dabei auch an der Verschmelzung der molekularen Medizin mit der technischen Instrumentierung bildgebender Verfahren gearbeitet.

This study will compare the USSR and the United States according to their cinematic use of science fiction in the late 1950s and 1960s in order to coincide with the period of de-Stalinisation and thaw in the USSR, and late McCarthyism in the United States. The genre provides an opportunity to express the two powers' scientific stand-off through fiction, and serves as a vehicle for the dissemination of ideas and propaganda. Post-1956 marks the time when the period of de-Stalinisation officially began and science fiction saw a carefully crafted rebirth for it served as a tool that could reflect the socialist ideal and quasi-religious faith in science that was promoted by the party. Science fiction uniquely demands for an imaginative view of the future, and therefore, corresponds with the Marxist- Leninist future-oriented ideology. For this period, the themes for American science fiction are hyperbolised monsters and invasion, and reflect the fear of the otherness of the Soviet Union, and its threat on domestic ideals. These themes are reflected in movies as 'Angry Red Planet', and 'Them!'. On the other hand, Soviet science fiction movies focus on the heroic Soviet man who frequently receives calls for help from outer space, and overcomes great trials to save those not living in utopia. This storyline is represented in 'Towards a Dream', and 'The Sky is calling'. The author gives special attention to the Soviet movie 'The Sky is calling' and the subsequent redubbed American version 'Battle beyond the Sun'. Further, she addresses alterations or plot, and subtle propaganda messages in the Soviet movies 'Planet of Storms', and the Hollywood remake 'Journey to the Prehistoric Planet'.

"DIE FINSTERNIS DER STERNE" ist eine Science Fiction-Buchreihe, die auf 15 Bände in 3 Staffeln angelegt ist. In jeder Staffel, die aus 5 Büchern besteht, gibt es einen Band, der ein wenig aus der Reihe fällt, andere Wege geht, sich von der Haupthandlung löst und die Perspektive wechselt, um die Galaxis von einem anderen Standpunkt zu zeigen. "Der Klon macht die Musik" ist der erste dieser Bände – und er ist gereimt. Im Rahmen der Reihe wäre dies ein Musical... oder eigentlich eher eine Oper, da es keine Dialoge gibt, die nicht gereimt sind. Oder, in dem Fall, nicht gesungen werden. Letztlich ist es natürlich ein etwa 100 Seiten langes Gedicht, das sich in "Lieder" unterteilt, die teils auch über Refrains verfügen, so, wie sich das eben gehört. Es mag nun aber sein, dass es Menschen gibt, die Gedichte lieber hören anstatt sie zu lesen, auch, weil sie so vielleicht sogar besser "klingen", als wenn man sie sich selbst vorstellt... und teilweise die Tempoänderungen erarbeiten muss, da nicht jedes Gedicht gleich laufen muss. Deshalb der Gedanke, diesen Band als Hörbuch umzusetzen, so dass man nur noch lauschen muss. Nun ist singen aber nicht jedermanns Sache und komponieren noch weniger, Also bleibt die Option der Lesung. Die hätte man auch ganz herkömmlich gestalten und das alles wie das Gedicht, das es ist, vorlesen können... aber da es sich ja um eine Art Musical handelt, kann man, statt nur zu lesen, die Texte ja auch ein wenig "inszenieren". Mit verschiedenen Rollen, Personen und Vortragenden, die so in der Vorlage nicht drinstehen, mit ein paar Verfremdungen und Multiplizierungen der Stimmen, was so ein modernes Programm eben erlaubt. Krieg, Brutalität und Mord, eine Schlacht im Weltraum und eine Sexszene am Strand – in den schönsten Worten dargereicht, was hoffentlich durch die Inszenierung auch ein bisschen eine Vorstellung erzeugt wird, wie all das wohl als echtes Musical wirken könnte...
