Innerhalb dieser Rahmenbedingungen haben Faktoren des Wettbewerbsumfeldes wie die Beziehungen zu Kunden, Lieferanten und Konkurrenten einen massgeblichen Einfluss auf die Unternehmensperformance. Im Unternehmen selbst kommt in diesem Zusammenhang den internen Geschäftsprozessen, die die Wertschöpfungskette bilden oder unterstützen, eine immer grössere Bedeutung zu. Vor diesem Hintergrund spielen Informationen sowohl über das Wettbewerbsumfeld, als auch über unternehmensinterne Prozesse heute eine entscheidende Rolle für den nachhaltigen Unternehmenserfolg. Als Einsatzgebiet von Managementinformationssystemen werden hierbei Unternehmen der Energieversorgungsbranche betrachtet. Energieversorgungsunternehmen (EVU, engl. Utilities) sind seit der Liberalisierung des Energiesektors 1998 dem Wettbewerb ausgesetzt und vollziehen seither den Wandel zu Energiedienstleistungsunternehmen (vgl. IRREK 2004, S. 38). Sie kann und soll indes keine Gesamtschau der Geschichte des Widerstandsrechtes präsentieren, sondern beschränkt sich auf einen Denker, der wohl wie kein Zweiter das politische Denken der mittelalterlichen Hochscholastik geprägt hat: Die Rede ist von Thomas von Aquin (1224/25-1274), der gemeinsam mit Aristoteles, Kant und Hegel fraglos zu den bedeutendsten und wirkungsmächtigsten Geistesgrössen der Menschheitsgeschichte zählt. Thomas von Aquin hat sich in seinen staatsphilosophischen Schriften - zu nennen ist hier vor allem der Fürstenspiegel "Über die Herrschaft der Fürsten" (lat. De Regimine Principum) - mehrfach zur Frage eines Widerstandsrechts geäussert. Er hat dies jedoch leider nicht immer in ganz eindeutiger Weise getan, so dass sich die Forschung bis heute in ihrer Bewertung der thomasischen Position weitgehend uneins ist. Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1,0, University College Dublin (Faculty of Arts; School of English and Drama), course: Gulliver's Travels, 8 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: In 1726 Jonathan Swift published Gulliver's Travels, a book which on the surface appeared to be a travel log to chronicle the adventures of Lemuel Gulliver on his voyages to four separate countries, but primarily serves as a satire on different aspects of human society and humankind itself. Swift's main purpose in using the satirical element in this book, as well as in most of his other works, is to "(...) vex the world rather than divert it (...)" (Swift 264) and thus to appeal to human's ability to change situations for the better. This believe derived from Swift's misanthropic worldview, not in the sense that he didn't have faith in human nature and had given up on any notion of ideals, but he rather, arisen out of disappointment in humankind, believed that man nevertheless was capable of reform. Swift himself laid bare his radically negative view of human beings in a letter to his friend Alexander Pope in 1725: "I have ever hated all Nations professions and Communityes and all my love is towards individualls for instance I hate the tribe of Lawyers, but I love Councellor such a one (...) and the rest principally I hate and detest that animal called man, although I hartily love John, Peter, Thomas and so forth." (Swift 264/ 265) Accordingly Swift's focus lies on the individual himself to realize unjust circumstances and to change them by acting. In order to achieve changes in society or even in human beings themselves, Swift makes use of different satirical techniques, which will be closer looked at in each of the four books of Gulliver's Travels, paying attention to Swifts targets and consequently to the effectiveness of his satire.

Essay from the year 2002 in the subject Law - European and International Law, Intellectual Properties, grade: 1 (A), University of Kent (Kent Law School), language: English, abstract: The conflict between Israel and the Palestinians over the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza is one of the most complicated conflicts in the world. Attempts to resolve the conflict have failed in the past and a resolution seems unlikely to emerge in the near future. Partly, this is due to the fact that the situation is extremely complex and the conflict very old. History, politics and international law together with religion, nationalism and pride are entangled to form this conflict. For both sides the conflict has reached an emotional level where belief is more important than rational decisions. A lot has been written about the Israel-Palestine conflict and in recent years more and more critique of Israel has emerged. This is particularly interesting as usually every criticism of its actions or policies is turned down by Israel as anti-Semitism. One thus has to be extremely careful when writing about Israel although international law seems to be relatively clear about the 1967 occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. In order to examine the legality of the occupation, this paper will discuss the situation from both angles and look at the sources of international law relevant to this case. These are the Charter of the United Nations in general and the United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 in particular. In addition, customary international law has developed to a jus cogens, prohibiting the use of force at all for settling international disputes. Finally, this paper shall conclude that any justification of the occupation is doubtful and there is little evidence in international law that might legitimise Israel¿s actions. And even if the initial occupation could be legitimised under Article 51 of the UN Charter as an act of self-defence, the prolonged occupation would still lack any legal basis.

Ein längeres Gespräch, das ich mit dem McDonald's-Franchisenehmer Herrn L. (6 Filialen) geführt habe, war für mich eine wichtige Grundlage mit vielen hilfreichen Informationen. Des Weiteren habe ich einen Einblick in das tägliche Geschäftsleben eines Franchisenehmers mit seinen persönlichen Erfahrungen (insbesondere das Verhältnis zum Franchisegeber und dem Personal) bekommen. Beide Franchiseunternehmen möchte ich dann noch kurz miteinander vergleichen. Beenden werde ich die Facharbeit mit einem Ausblick, der die Zukunftschancen und das Wachstumspotential vom Franchising darlegen soll.

Seminar paper from the year 2007 in the subject Didactics - English - Literature, Works, grade: 1,7, University of Münster, language: English, abstract: In James Joyce¿s novel "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" a variety of narrative techniques is used. In this research paper I want to explore how the use of different narrative techniques correlates with and indicates the protagonist¿s development towards both an artist and an autonomous adult. Except of the concluding diary entries, the novel is narrated by a third-person narrator who has got a limited point of view since he is focalized through Stephen. The narrator presents Stephen¿s consciousness and activities in various ways; an important aspect about his narration is that he persistently adapts his style to Stephen¿s idiom and mood. In some passages the narrator reports almost objectively on events, however, often he renders Stephen¿s consciousness, for which he uses different narrative techniques. Since Dorrit Cohn is thought to be one of the most important researchers on the field of narrative techniques concerning the presentation of consciousness, I will base this research paper on her definitions. Cohn distinguishes three ways a third-person narrator can use for rendering a person¿s consciousness: psycho-narration, narrated monologue and quoted interior monologue, all of which are used in the novel. I will focus on psycho-narration and narrated monologue since these are the techniques predominantly used. Psycho- narration is the narrator¿s description of a character¿s thoughts and feelings, thus, it is the most indirect way of rendering a character¿s consciousness. The third-person reference and the tense of narration are maintained. The presence of a narrator is marked since a verbum dicendi is always used. Narrated monologue uses the third person singular and the preterite as well; however, at the same time the syntactical structure remains that of direct discourse with exclamations, questions, repetitions, interjections and exaggerated emphases. The effect of narrated monologue is to reduce as far as possible the distance between the narrator and the character existing in all third person narrations. Since psycho- narration and narrated monologue use a third-person narrator and the same time span, the two techniques can alternate without perceptible transitions. As a result, the narrator can weave in and out of the character¿s thoughts and the distance between narrator and character can be eliminated.

The content of the book differs from the content of this paper and is not related to the questions posed in this research.1 Part II of this research gives a detailed overview of what security actually means in global politics and how key players understand it. General definitions and theory allows us to understand the major parts of this thesis (part III and IV). Part III describes different approaches to security in IR theory and explains it on the basis of European political integration. The historio-political analysis in this part shows the evolution of a CFSP and the ESDP. Institutionalization processes within the European Union explain the current status of the EU¿s foreign policy, which is a status in process without having a clear and defined goal. This part includes the legal dimension of the EU¿s foreign policy as well and describes the problematic situation Europeans currently have to face, namely disputes about the legal personality of the European Community and the European Union. Part IV is the second major part of the paper and deals with security challenges and the impact of the EU¿s foreign policy on transatlantic relations and/or vice versa. This part has a closer look on the practical side of what the European Union is able and willing to do as a key player in the political, security and military domain in the world.
