Aufgrund ständiger Reformen und der kontinuierlichen Annäherung der VR China an die westliche Welt, eröffnen sich derzeit viele neue Chancen und Möglichkeiten für ausländische und chinesische Investoren und Investorinnen. Laut dem Deloitte M&A; Report 2015 ist die VR China derzeit einer der wichtigsten und grössten Märkte der Welt für M&A; Transaktionen (vgl. McGree et al. 2015, S. 6). Ferner wird es immer wichtiger für österreichische und internationale Unternehmen, sich mit den rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen bei M&A; Transaktionen in der VR China zu befassen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Durchführung eines Rechtsvergleiches zwischen Corporate Governance Aspekten in der VR China und in Österreich. Es sollen vor allem die Unter-schiede zwischen den beiden Ländern und den jeweiligen Auffassungen von Corporate Governance erarbeitet und im Hinblick auf den Einfluss auf österreichisch-chinesische M&A; Transaktionen analysiert werden. Aufgrund meines Auslandssemesters in der chinesischen Stadt Chengdu, habe ich einen persönlichen Bezug zu dieser Themenstellung. Aus den oben angeführten Zielen können folgende Forschungsfragen abgeleitet werden: ¿ Was wird in Österreich, in Hinblick auf rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und ethische Grundwerte, unter Corporate Governance verstanden? ¿ Was wird in der VR China, in Hinblick auf rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und ethische Grundwerte, unter Corporate Governance verstanden? ¿ Wie wirken sich die verschiedenen Auffassungen von Corporate Governance in der VR China und in Österreich auf österreichisch-chinesische M&A; Prozesse aus? Die wissenschaftliche Methode besteht ausschliesslich aus Literaturrecherche. Der derzeitige Stand der Literatur umfasst diverse wissenschaftliche Publikationen und empirische Untersuchungen betreffend Corporate Governance in der VR China und in Österreich. Eine allgemeine Definition der Auffassung von Corporate Governance in den beiden Staaten, sowie eine Analyse der Einflüsse dieser Auffassungen auf österreichisch-chinesische M&A; Prozesse, finden sich in der Literatur bis dato nicht. Für das Ergebnis dieser Arbeit wird auf die bestehende Literatur zurückgegriffen.

WTO accession by China is often seen as the most significant event about China in the last decade, even ahead of the Taiwan Independence issue, which continues to penetrate world news periodically. Since the end of the Cultural Revolution in 1978, China has been on a course of economic reform. Today, Chinese are richer than ever before in history, with the country itself having experienced extended periods of extraordinary growth. Specifically, this report will highlight Chinäs first attempts to join the WTO more than 15 years ago in chapter two. Chapter three will focus on the main areas of difficulty surrounding WTO accession, while chapter four will comment on the final accession in December 2001. The expected economic advantages and disadvantages for China will be discussed in chapter five; finally, chapter six will offer a brief future outlook for China, again mainly from an economic perspective.

While the first essay on "The Rise of China" is concerned with the relation of Australia and the US, which seems to be influenced by the rising star of China, the second essay also talks about a very topical issue of protectionism in a globalized or globalizing world. The ongoing crisis of finance since the end of 2008 and the following recession is challenging free trade and liberalism today. In regard to "The Rise of China" the issue became more and more important since Chinese companies seem to buy out the Australian economy in 2009. Finally, the last essay is focused on the question of how the United States should be understood in regard to its foreign policy. Referring to the concepts of empire and hegemony, the author introduces the two cases of ancient Athens and Sparta. Liest man dann über die Über-schriften hinaus, fällt in nahezu allen Artikeln, die sich mit diesen Themen ausei-nandersetzen, ein Begriff: China. China, das Reich der Mitte wie es sich selbst bezeichnet, giert nach wirtschaftli-chem Erfolg und Anerkennung. Nach Ansicht vieler Experten, Politiker und Me-dien wird dieser Erfolg jedoch durch unfaire Methoden forciert. Immer wieder wird der gezielt unterbewertete Yuan als Grund für die Ungleichgewichte in den Leistungsbilanzen oder für zunehmende Handelsdispute zwischen China und den USA genannt. Viele Beobachter sehen sogar die aktuelle Wirtschaftskrise als Fol-ge der chinesischen Wachstumspolitik, ausgelöst durch die massiven Kapitalströ-me in die USA. Dies führte jüngst zu einem Ruf nach einer ¿neuen Währungsord-nung¿, unter anderem durch Staatschefs wie dem französischen Präsidenten Nico-las Sarkozy, der eine massive Aufwertung der chinesischen Währung fordert. Einen ganz anderen Ansatz dagegen verfolgen die Ökonomen David Folkerts-Landau, Peter Garber und Michael Dooley. Die Erfinder der Bretton Woods II-Theorie interpretieren die aktuelle Situation bereits als ein informelles Arrange-ment und in gewisser Weise eine Währungsordnung zwischen den USA und den aufstrebenden Schwellenländern, insb. China, welche ihre Währung an den US Dollar binden. Dadurch wird laut Bretton Woods II-Theorie für Stabilität gesorgt und die immensen Leistungsbilanzdefizite der USA können durch Kapitalströme aus diesen Ländern finanziert werden. Die spannende Frage dabei ist, welche der beiden Argumentationen im Endeffekt recht behält und welche Ursachen und Folgen das hohe US-Leistungsbilanzdefizit tatsächlich hat. In der folgenden Seminararbeit soll nun die Theorie von Bretton Woods II erläu-tert, das Leistungsbilanzdefizit der USA analysiert und die komplexen Verflech-tungen der USA mit China dargestellt und auf Konsistenz mit der Bretton Woods II-Theorie überprüft werden.

Her fiction reflects facets of her mixed heritage: she is German-American by her father, as well as French and Ojibwa (also known as Chippewa or Anishinaabe) by her mother. Louise Erdrich left North Dakota in 1972 and entered Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where she met Michael Dorris, a mixed-blood Modoc Indian writer who founded the Native American Studies department at the college. Collaboratively, they published "Route Two" (1990) and "The Crown of Columbus" (1991). Erdrich and Dorris married in 1981, but were in the midst of divorce proceedings when he committed suicide in 1997. ¿I knew that Michael was suicidal from the second year of our marriage,¿ Erdrich said in an interview. The award-winning writer is considered to be one of the most significant Native American novelists from the ¿second wave¿ of what is called the Native American Renaissance (see chapter 1.2). She is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe. ¿No one knew yet how many were lost, people kept no track.¿ (Tracks, p. 15) "Tracks" (1988) Erdrich¿s novel Tracks, which is to be explored in the present argument, is the third part of an initially planned tetralogy, including "Love Medicine" (1984), "The Beet Queen" (1986), and "The Bingo Palace" (1994). Louise Erdrich created a novel cycle, exploring the lives of various generations of Chippewa family who live on a fictional reservation in North Dakota in the twentieth century, a time when Indian tribes were struggling to retain their remaining land. Chronologically speaking, it is the family¿s earliest period¿from 1912 to 1924¿that is related in Tracks. In most of her works, Erdrich uses several characters to narrate alternating chapters, presenting a story that unfolds from multiple perspectives. "Tracks" is told retrospectively by two homodiegetic narrators: Pauline Puyat, a mixed-blood who denies her Indian ¿half¿ in order to be accepted into the convent and changes her name to Sister Leopolda, and Nanapush, an older Native American who tells his story to a named addressee, his granddaughter Lulu: ¿You were born on the day we shot the last bear, drunk, on the reservation.¿ ("Tracks", p. 58) "Tracks" is constructed as mutually referential focalization, ...

Master's Thesis from the year 2004 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, University of Teesside, language: English, abstract: Corporate culture has gained importance in the business world in the last two decades. The consideration of corporate culture, nevertheless, differs significantly in organisations. Some organisations have taken their corporate culture into account for strategic decisions (e.g. cultural fit during Mergers & Acquisitions) but other organisations have tended to neglect this issue at all. Deal and Kenndy (1999) consider corporate culture as a hidden success factor of organisation which ensures commitment of the employees. According to them (1999), organisations with a ¿strong¿ corporate culture outperform ¿run-of-the-mills companies by a massive margin¿. Corporate culture, nevertheless, has been a controversially discussed topic in the literature on which different general ¿best practices¿ had been suggested by academics. However, it can be argued that the few empirical studies of corporate culture, notably Kotter and Heskett¿s (1992) quantitative survey, have been methodologically limited (Alvesson, 2002), e.g. to few senior managers of the examined organisations. Therefore, this project employs, besides interviews with senior managers of the three examined German organisations, a survey which is focused on employees of different hierarchical and divisional levels in one organisation. The findings of the research clearly show that corporate culture is a far more heterogeneous phenomenon than many academics suggest. In this research, corporate culture appears as a network of interrelating cultural patterns which is unique to different organisations due to different organisational and environmental challenges. The survey also identified that the perceptions of corporate culture differ between senior management and the employees. Therefore, the employees¿ perception of the corporate culture must be taken into account in order to prevent cultural dichotomy. Furthermore, the senior management should implement a sustainable process of monitoring the development of corporate culture. Continuous monitoring enhances the understanding of the organisation and the consequences of managerial actions. Consequently, this can help to raise commitment and efficiency of the workforce.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: First class, University of Birmingham, language: English, abstract: This research aimed to show whether responses to shock advertising campaigns are influenced by culture The aim and objectives for this research included to analyse the techniques and impact of shock advertising, evaluate the cultural characteristics of Germany and England in relation to the perception of advertising, analyse the impact of four selected campaigns on Benetton¿s financial performance and to critically evaluate the extent to which culture influences the acceptance of shock advertising through focus groups/questionnaires. The gathered data from questionnaires and focus groups was then compared and contrasted against the findings from secondary sources as well as against each other. The comparison of the three types of research showed that differences between both cultures exist. Both countries have different approaches towards the Benetton campaigns: Germany strategically and England emotionally. This does not necessarily mean they respond differently to them, although research has shown that, as opposed to data gathered in the secondary literature, Germany responded more tolerantly and openly to the campaigns than expected, whereas England, expected according to the secondary literature to understand advertising based on creativity, did just the opposite. The English group rated the shock factor more strongly than the German group, proving that responses to shock advertising are dependent on cultural influences. The results from this research therefore show that responses to these campaigns are affected by culture especially in emotional campaigns such as the Benetton ones and companies should take these differences into account. Obviously it is cheaper and easier to run a standardized global campaign; however, this does not take different cultures in different countries into account which might harm brand perception due to misunderstandings and different decoding approaches. The phenomenon of globalisation will be of great interest for further research as it brings cultures closer together. The research, over a larger timeframe, might show how cultures are becoming more similar and therefore a standardised advertising strategy might be more useful than ever.

The theoretical basic concept of deferred taxes should give you the idea and a definition of deferred taxes. Afterwards I would like to present the different causes for creating deferred taxes. The causes for creating deferred taxes will be emphasized by give examples. For a better understanding I would like to explain in the following the steps the methods of determination. You have to know that the IAS determines the deferred taxes by using the temporary concept. Because I would like to underline the differences I will present in short form the timing concept too. The temporary concept includes the timing and the temporary differences and excludes the permanent differences. Now we have to find a definition for each type of difference. If we know the idea of deferred taxes and we know how to determine them, we will be interested in the evaluation of deferred taxes. Therefore I will describe the liability method used by IAS and to show the differences I will describe the deferred method. For a better understanding I would like to conclude my report by giving the different way of calculation deferred taxes by using the deferred method and the liability method.

Man kann selbst entscheiden, ob man eine Chance und Gelegenheit zur Klärung nutzen möchte oder ob man sich der möglichen Gefahr aussetzt, in der nicht gebannte wilde Emotionen und Missverständnisse eine Mauer errichten. Während meiner praktischen Tätigkeiten mit Kindern und Jugendlichen, stellte ich fest, dass Konflikte unter Kindern/Schülern, aber auch zwischen Kindern/Schülern und Erziehern/Lehrern den (Schul-)Alltag belasteten. Besonders konfliktreich kann die Klassensituation sein, da es sich um eine unfreiwillige Gemeinschaft handelt. Konflikte werden meist als störend, bedrohlich, destruktiv und schmerzvoll erlebt. Dementsprechend versuchen die Beteiligten, Konflikten auszuweichen. Wenn das nicht möglich ist, eskalieren Konflikte oft in persönliche Auseinandersetzungen oder aufreibende Machtkämpfe. Allerdings beinhalten Konflikte meiner Meinung nach oft auch spannende Momente. Man erfährt Neues über sich selbst und lernt eigene Grenzen kennen. Es ist interessant zu beobachten, wie Kinder und Jugendliche eigenständig kreative Lösungen aus Konfliktsituationen finden ¿ oft schneller und einfacher als Erwachsene. Eine Möglichkeit, Konflikte in der Schule zu bewältigen, bietet die Mediation als ein spezielles Konfliktlösungsverfahren mit Hilfe unparteiischer Dritter. Seit diesem Semester nehme ich am Projekt ¿Verhandeln, Mediation und Konfliktberatung in der Sozialen Arbeit¿ teil. Ich würde gerne an einer Schule als Schulsozialarbeiter arbeiten, und interessiere mich daher besonders für die Methode und die Herangehensweise an Mediation in der Schule. Ich werde in dieser Hausarbeit nicht analysieren: Wer ICH bin? Wie ICH Konflikte angehe und warum ICH gerade diesen Weg wähle? Warum ICH in bestimmten Situationen immer in einen Konflikt gerate usw., sondern nach einer theoretischen Auseinandersetzung mit Mediation und speziell Mediation an Schulen, sowie die geschichtlichen Hintergründe zu Beginn der Arbeit, sollen Hinweise zur praktischen Durchführung von Konfliktarbeit in der Schule in Form eines Mediationsverlaufs dargestellt werden, um sich der Rolle als Schulsozialarbeiter, mit den Aufgaben und der Haltung in einer Mediation bewusst zu werden.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Sport - Sportpädagogik, Didaktik, Note: 1,0, Pädagogische Hochschule Karlsruhe, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Sucht man im Internet nach Informationen über die Li Xiaoshuang-Gymnastikschule in China, trifft man auf Bezeichnungen wie "Schule der Drachen" oder "Schule der Schmerzen". Doch leiden die Kinder in dieser Einrichtung wirklich so sehr? Welche Methoden wenden die Trainer an, um die jungen Turnerinnen und Turner zu künftigen Olympiasiegern zu machen? Wie sieht der Tagesablauf der Kinder an dieser Schule aus und wie ergeht es ihnen dabei? Die Beantwortung all dieser Fragen steht im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit. Nachdem ich für die Erörterung des Themas wichtige Begriffe geklärt habe, werde ich einen Blick auf den geschichtlichen Hintergrund der Li Xiaoshuang - Schule werfen und darlegen, wie und wozu die Schule gegründet wurde. Danach soll die aktuelle Situation des Internats beschrieben werden, indem ich auf die Problematik im Zusammenhang mit der Entwicklung und dem Aufwachsen der Kinder eingehe. Im Anschluss möchte ich meinen Lesern den Einblick in den Tagesablauf eines Kindes an dieser Schule geben und werde aufzeigen, mit welchen Methoden die Trainer ihr Ziel, zukünftige Olympiasieger vorzubereiten, erreichen wollen. Abschliessend werde ich meine eigene Meinung und Verbesserungsvorschläge in einem Fazit äussern.

Diploma Thesis from the year 2009 in the subject Landscape Management, grade: Sehr gut, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, language: English, abstract: Although China cultural as well as political is opening up since about thirty years, the Chinese manner of cerebration, except of few exemptions, has still keep refused most people in the western world. Primarily this has to do with the ancient Chinese ideology self. The Chinese, who are calling their country ¿The Empire of the Middle¿, were on principle in the past rarely attempted to leave their nation because the remaining world for them was not really livable. Outside the boundaries, there lived the so called barbarians, who in ancient times mostly were embodied by brutal Mongolian tribes, who martially tried to infiltrate China and from them the Chinese had to protect. So, they created their own world, a world in the world, enclosed by the thousands of meters long Great Wall (Chang Cheng), inside of they felt confident and could develop further. This retirement in an enclosed space and last but not least the retirement in oneself paved finally the way for their private gardens, in which they could undisturbed find an access to a better ¿world¿. This essay will deal with these little enclosed garden worlds, these micro-cosmos in a macro-cosmos. This work consists of a searching for their history and the holistically ¿religious¿ backgrounds, which first made enable these small but coevally ¿infinite¿ universes. It get to the bottom of the correlations between time and space, establish relationships between narrow and open, bright and dark, and last but not least inside and outside, which all are parts of an all-containing, super-ordinate ¿Great¿. It makes close connections to landscape paintings and the gardens self, which as major motif threads through the whole text, will find out that they are close correlated to the ¿Great¿ and grapple with the centre of the ¿Whole¿, with the ¿Zero-Perspective¿ or the ¿Vapidness¿, in which the human as important part at least can dive in to touch the sky. Of course also the framework of a Chinese private garden, the several elements, are considered, without them no garden could exist. The role and the important task of their walls will be bespoken, the several constructions of their buildings and last but not least the close to the human correlated plants. All this aspects will be picked up again at a walkabout through three famous Chinese gardens in Suzhou, where the mindfully reader finally will notice, that size does not necessarily count in architectural garden space.

As he explained to us, he had heard this old printers saying many times before from his father, who was in the printing business himself. This motto is more than simply a justification for the laziness of my teacher who almost never corrected our tests on time. Since it comes out of the printing business ¿ a business hundreds of years old ¿ it has a broader meaning. It expresses the enduring existence of the written word. Hence, letters, black on white, are records of people¿s thoughts and opinions at specific points in time, from early signs of human existence on cave walls to digital letters on our modern-day computer screens. Newspapers as a medium for writing are of special interest to historians as well as to ordinary people like you and me. Throughout history newspapers have reflected society. However, it would be an over-simplification to reduce the complexity of newspapers to the mere role of mirroring. They give us useful information about editors, journalists and authors. Their patient words waiting to be read become vibrant thoughts ¿ even though reader and source might be years apart. It is the dichotomy of individual and collective experience in reading that creates a readership. Benedict Anderson¿s concept of imagined communities fits into this context incredibly well. Although a reader might not know all the other readers of his or her newspaper, they still have one thing in common ¿ they have all held the same information in their hands and read the same news. Thus the reader ¿ being aware of this indirectly shared experience ¿ imagines his community of fellow readers. While Anderson refers to communities that overcome all distances I would apply his model to distances in time. It is because of the lasting effect of the written word that, although I am culturally embedded in the 21st century, I can still read, be impressed and influenced by, or even identify with an article that is almost one hundred years old. I leaf through the same pages, look at the same pictures, and think about the same author as did other readers back then. This process ¿ as an extension of Anderson¿s theory ¿ makes me a part of an imagined community that knows no borders, neither in space, nor in time.

Its original home was the Chichester theatre and the Old Vic theatre but soon the company decided to set up their own building in London. The Shakespeare Memorial National Theatre Committee with Olivier as a member formed a building committee to plan the creation of a building befitting the rank of the National Theatre Company. The building committee faced the task to find an architect for the project. With the help of the Royal Institute of British Architects it organized a competition with three hundred participants and chose twenty in the end for the final round in which Denys Lasdun was unanimously chosen as the architect. He had never designed a theatre before. This very demanding task took him, his partner Peter Softley and his team over a decade to fulfil. The National Theatre was opened in March 1976 with the first play. Together with the concert halls Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room, the Museum of the Moving Image, the National Film Theatre and the Hayward Art Gallery for modern art it represents the center of cultural life around the south bank of the Thames. The following paper deals with the architecture of the National Theatre, especially with the floor plan and the architect's design and intentions.

In this essay, I would like to analyse The Representation of Gender in Walt Disney¿s 'Mulan', using the structure of the movie to focus on The Protagonist Fa Mulan, the Treatment of Women and the Depiction of Men. Additionally, the inquiry concerning the Meaning of Song Texts in Disney¿s 'Mulan' appears useful as these always play an important role in conveying movie themes. In order to establish a connection to the seminar on which this paper is based, I will illustrate how the movie is a good example for Judith Butler¿s theory of Gender as Performance. Last but not least, I would like to show the Influence of Disney¿s 'Mulan' on Society because fairy tales and movies '[¿] do influence the manner in which children conceive the world and their places in it [¿]'. Drawing the 'Conclusion', I will try a careful approach to find out if Disney¿s 'Mulan' might even be considered as a feminist movie. (...)

Seminar paper from the year 1998 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 1,0 (A), Humboldt-University of Berlin (Institute for Anglistics/ American Studies), course: Great Britain and Europe - Great Britain in Europe, language: English, abstract: The British attitude towards Germany seems to be ambiguous: there are still many World War II movies on television, there are serious newspaper articles and hostile tabloid cartoons, unfriendly governmental memos and ¿ last but not least ¿ advertising: The people dealing with this issue are of different political background. Therefore, they have contradictory intentions and express either friendly or hostile opinions: Nevertheless, certain stereotypes of Germans are recurrent, regardless of which attitude is represented. The two following lists of German attributes have only recently been compiled: The first one is the result of the Chequers-Conference in March 1990, when Margaret Thatcher discussed the aspects of German reunification with some confidants: The Conference¿s consensus on ¿eternal¿ German characteristics was : ¿insensitivity to the feeling of others, [...] aggressiveness; assertiveness, bullying, egotism [...].¿ The memo was not designed to be published, therefore one can assume that the participants spoke frankly. Several other ¿German¿ features can be found in a poll in which students were asked about national characteristics: According to the majority, Germans are: "orderly, (disciplined, organises, efficient, obedient to rules, inflexible, punctual); hard-working, (laborious and ambitious); arrogant (particularly in intellectual matters); complex (difficult to understand, Angst-ridden)". My paper will focus on the occurrence of several of these images in advertising, especially in four campaigns released between 1993 and 1997: Three of them deal with German products promoted for German consumers, one of them deals with a British product for the British market but refers to Anglo-German conflict in order to tell its story. We will see that especially the stereotypical German virtues (as mentioned above) are applied in order to emphasise the value of the goods. In contrast, one example shows how negative images are used to show British superiority.
