E. Phillips Oppenheim, an English novelist created well in excess of 100 novels and 30 plus collections of short stories. Most of his tales are thrillers and espionage. The Great Impersonation was written following World War I and is considered by many to be perhaps his best novel. The story focuses on German espionage in England prior to the start of World War I. The tale centers on two characters that are almost identical in appearance. Indeed, while both attend the same school in England, they are often mistaken for one another. One character is Sir Everard Dominey, an English baronet who enjoys the "good life" but falls into disfavor when he is accused of murdering Roger Unthank. Unthank, of the same village, has an infatuation for Dominey's wife, Rosamund, and attacks Dominey. Dominey comes before his wife bloody and ragged after the struggle with Unthank. The spectacle renders her unbalanced. This is more than Dominey can bear and he goes on a long travel and drinking binge spanning years. Dominey's wife threatens to kill him if he ever returns. The second character is Baron Leopold von Ragastein, a German nobleman. Von Ragastein has fallen into disrespect with the Kaiser for his affair with a Hungarian princess and subsequent killing of her nobleman husband in a duel. He is banished to a minor government position in East Africa as punishment. A chance encounter between Dominey and von Ragastein in German East Africa sets the pretext for the story. Von Ragastein returns to England as Dominey, to regain his position in society, and serve Germany by influencing England to keep out of the coming conflict. There is one problem however: there are some, including Dominey's wife, who are not convinced that Sir Everard Dominey is really who he claims to be. The result was the biggest crisis, a German automobile company had ever faced. Mercedes-Benz is a high-class automobile company. Its products stand for luxury, reliability and dependability. But high-class cars are expensive and only affordable for the richer part of society. To keep pace with the fast developing automobile industry all over the world, Mercedes-Benz decided to invent car that reunites all three values, the company embraces. This car ¿ the Mercedes-Benz A-Class ¿ should have another important feature: It is affordable for the middle class. With this car, Mercedes was approaching a new market segment and therefore new target audiences. A campaign, that fits the new car in the overall Mercedes image, was crucial. In May 1996 Mercedes Benz started its huge advertising campaign ¿ almost one and a half years prior to the official product launch on October 18th 1997. More than 100 million Euro will this launching campaign cost the company. Despite that the campaign only ran in the European market, the Mercedes-Benz brand and this specific campaign caught international attention. Newspapers from all over the world accompanied the A-Class until its official launch. These newspapers were also there, when the crisis occurred, that almost harmed the company on a long-term basis. Right after the launch, the car, that was supposed to be innovative, reliable and safe, failed in the so called ¿moose-test¿. After almost two years of positive media coverage, a flood of criticism followed. Due to the high level of awareness for the car, the public was now also aware of the safety issues the Mercedes A-Class had. What followed was another campaign. The goals were to safe the image of the company, to deal with the crisis and to re-launch the A-Class half a year later. The campaign analysis explains why Mercedes had to take the approach and step into the market segment of small cars. In addition, the launching campaign and its four phases: Big Bang, New Perspectives, New Choices, and New Experiences, will be explained in detail. The second part will cover the crisis that occurred after the launch of the A-Class and the re-launch in 1998. Finally, the analysis will show whether this incident harmed the image of the company on a long-term basis, and how advertising influenced this development.

This masterwork, entered into Mozart’s own catalogue of works on 27 September 1788 as a “Divertimento;” presents the Urtext editor with great challenges. The autograph manuscript has been lost since that time, and no other first-rate source texts exist. The most reliable, albeit clearly imprecise, source is the first edition, published two months after Mozart’s death. Many twentieth-century editions, however, unfortunately reprinted the musical text of Breitkopf & Härtel’s so-called “Alte Gesamtausgabe” (Old Collected Edition), which was edited by none other than the violinist Joseph Joachim on the basis of incorrect copies and is therefore completely corrupt. Even the “Neue Mozart-Ausgabe” (New Mozart Edition) is not error-free. The Henle edition essentially follows the first edition, though aided by numerous corrective interventions, described in the Critical Commentary. The edition’s Appendix presents the surviving fragment of the string trio movement in G major, K. Anh. 66 (562e). How unfortunate that Mozart never completed this equally wonderful music, which continues a little beyond the exposition and thus may quite aptly serve as a short encore. The three individual parts offer optimal flow for reading and playing thanks to the artful apportioning of notes in their layout, including, for instance, various foldout tables and individual pages left blank. The study edition (HN 9625), available separately, provides the full score to this edition of the parts.
