"Leaving Home, Coming Home: Ein Porträt von Robert Frank", fertiggestellt im Jahr 2004, war der erste abendfüllende Dokumentarfilm über den legendären schweizerisch-amerikanischen Fotografen und Filmemacher. Nachdem Robert Frank den Film zunächst nicht freigegeben hatte, weil er ihm zu persönlich war, um ihn der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen, autorisierte er ihn schliesslich doch und er kam in die Kinos. Der Film wurde im Stil des Cinéma vérité zwischen New York und Nova Scotia, wo Robert Frank seine letzten Lebensjahre verbrachte, gedreht. Er zeigt Frank, zurückblickend auf sein Leben als Fotograf sowie auf sein produziertes berühmtes „The Americans“; das wahrscheinlich einflussreichste Fotobuch der letzten 60 Jahre.
