Das Buch präsentiert eine Fülle von neuen wissenschaftlichen Daten, wie sie z.T. international noch nicht publiziert wurden. Es konnte erstmals gezeigt werden, dass: 1. das Wachstum von Tumorzellen in vitro vom relativen Tumorzellgehalt signifikant abhängt; 2. das In-Vitro-System per se keine Selektion einer bestimmten prognostischen Subtype an Tumoren ausübt, so dass die Testergebnisse für alle getestenen Materialien repräsentativ sind; 3. die Vorbehandlung sich nur dann auf die Chemosensitivität gegenüber Folgetherapien auswirkt, wenn diese Therapien identisch sind; 4. die generelle Chemosensitivität in vitro mit der Chemosensitivität in vivo übereinstimmt; 5. das Wachstum in vitro einen selbständigen prognostischen Parameter darstellt. Insbesondere wird der Wert des Testsystemes für die Arzneimittelforschung, für die Erstellung neuer Therapiekonzepte, für die Behandlung von Tumorpatienten in Phase-I-II-Studien sowie die Prognoseerstellung positiv kommentiert.
