Die Erfolgsgeschichte der Kings Of Leon ist wahrhaft beispiellos: Nachdem die Brüder Nathan, Caleb und Jared Followill zusammen mit ihrem Cousin Matthew Followill den irrsinnigen (UK-)Hype um ihr Debütalbum "Youth & Young Manhood" im Jahr 2003 nahezu schadlos überstanden hatten, gelang es dem Quartett im Laufe der Jahre nicht nur, sich die Gunst der Musikkritiker und In-Crowd zu bewahren, sondern auch ihre Chartperformance mit jedem Album nachhaltig zu verbessern. Hatte der Erstling gerade mal an den Top 50 der deutschen Albumcharts und den Top 100 der US Hitliste gekratzt, so erreichten die aus Tennessee stammenden Musiker mit ihrem letztjährigen, dritten Studioalbum in ihrer Heimat erstmals die Top 30, in Deutschland peakte "Because Of The Times" sensationell auf Position 32. Selbst in Großbritannien, wo die stark von Blues, Country, Southern und Garage Rock geprägte Musik des Familienunternehmens mit Abstand am populärsten ist (und die Band bereits ein gutes halbes Dutzend Top-30-Hits landen konnte), war nach zwei Top-3-Platzierungen mit den ersten beiden Alben "Youth & Young Manhood" und "Aha Shake Heartbreak" (2004) sogar noch eine Steigerung möglich: "Because Of The Times" schoss im April 2007 von Null auf eins der UK Charts. Ein gutes Jahr später hat Familie Followill bereits den Follow-Up zu ihrem ersten Chart-Topper fertig: "Only By The Night" ist der Titel des vierten Kings-Of-Leon-Longplayers, der in Zusammenarbeit mit dem langjährigen Produzenten Angelo Patraglia und dem in Nashville beheimateten Producer/Engineer Jacquire King (hatte bereits "Aha Shake Heartbreak" gemischt) eingespielt wurde. Die erste Single des neuen Albums trägt den durchaus verheißungsvollen Titel "Sex On Fire". Kommentar Caleb Followill: "In unserer Musik war schon von jeher ein 'Sex-Element'. Also dachte ich mir, ich packe das diesmal alles in einen Song und dann ist das Thema für den Rest des Albums abgehakt."
