The British people defied the enemy until May 1941 when much of the Luftwaffe were moving away to fight on the Russian front.

Anhand klinischer Studien wurden prognostische Faktorenerarbeitet, um den Einsatz der relevanten diagnostischen Methoden zu optimierenund um im Sinne der Prognoseverbesserung für die Patienten auch unter Berücksichtigungökonomischer Aspekte ein zuverlässiges und sicheres Nachsorgeschema zuentwickeln, in dem moderne diagnostische Verfahren wie CT, MRT, SPECT undPET sowie verschiedene andere szintigraphische, radiologische und in vitroVerfahren sinnvoll integriert werden. Im Fall einer "unkomplizierten" Erkrankungam differenzierten Schilddrüsen-Tumor (ohne LK- oder Fernmetastasen) wirdnach Diagnosestellung zunächst im allgemeinen eine vollständige Thyreoidektomiemit oder ohne selektive Lymphadenektomie angestrebt. In der Schilddrüsenlogeverbleiben hierbei postoperativ nicht selten kleinere Schilddrüsenreste,da aufgrund sensibler Gefäss-/Nervenstrukturen der operativen RadikalitätGrenzen gesetzt sind. Circa 4 Wochen nach chirurgischer Intervention wirddann in hypothyreoter Stoffwechsellage unter maximaler endogener TSH-Stimulation(ohne zwischenzeitliche Hormonsubstitution) und Iodkarenz mit einer hochdosiertenRadioiodtherapie (RJT) eine vollständige Schilddrüsenrest-Ablation durchgeführt,wobei theoretisch verbliebene Tumorzellen im Schilddrüsenrestgewebe miteliminiert werden sollen. Nach vollständiger Beseitigung des Schilddrüsengewebesist die Bestimmung von Thyreoglobulin als Tumormarker sehr zuverlässigund unter endogener TSH-Stimulation besonders sensitiv.
