Sie alle haben mit ihren Skulpturen in ihrer jeweils eigenen Weise – und oft in scheinbarer Naivität – anhand direkt aus dem Material geformter Körper oder Körperteile die Grenzen der Form und die Anfänge der Figuration untersucht: Derain, de Kooning, Fautrier und Förg etwa anhand von Köpfen oder Masken; Josephson und Baselitz mittels amorpher Torsi; Giacometti und wiederum Baselitz in Bezug auf einzelne Hände, Beine und Füsse.
