Wondrous Machine so lautet der Titel einer Air aus Purcells Odes for St. Cecilia's Day, eines Lobgesangs an die Musik, als deren Schutzheilige Cäcilia gilt, und an die Instrumente von der Flöte bis zur Orgel, als deren Erfinderin sie gilt. Nicht als Erfinderin, aber als innovative Wiederentdeckerin und Botschafterin eines ebenfalls 'wundersamen' Instruments, nämlich der historischen Harfe und ihrer 'Entourage', gilt Margret Koell. Sie stellt den Titel 'Wondrous Machine' programmatisch über ein Projekt, das die klangliche Wandlungsfähigkeit der Tripelharfe in den Blick nimmt. Im Zentrum des Programmes steht Georg Friedrich Händel: Das Konzert Op. 7 Nr. 1 in der Besetzung Harfe, Laute und Orchester ist die Bearbeitung Koells des originalen Konzerts für Orgel und Orchester. Das Konzert Op. 4 Nr. 6 wird hier erstmalig in der äusserst selten zu hörenden Version von 1736 für Harfe und Lyrichord (Viola organista) präsentiert letzteres, ein gestrichenes Tasteninstrument, basiert auf Skizzen von Leonardo da Vinci. Mit seiner Skizze zu einer anderen 'wondrous machine', dem Fluggerät 'Ornithopter', stand da Vinci nochmals Pate: für die neue Komposition von Christof Dienz, die Tripelharfe und Lyrichord in die Gegenwart katapultiert. Abgerundet wird das Programm durch eingestreute schottischen Tunes des Komponisten James Oswald.
